Okay, fine, here it is….
Rapunzel, race-bent. After hearing this (totally AWESOME) fandub/fan-translation of Healing Incantation (an African-American girl singing in Japanese), I wanted to attempt to combine the two.
At first her hair was going to be curly, because curly hair is dominant over straight, but then I realized, all that hair would weight it down and force it to be straighter. And it was also going to be black, but then I remember the magic flower had changed her hair color…so now it’s white-blonde. It turns black when it’s cut though.
OhGod I hope it’s okay I’m so sorry if I got things wrong
+ Tangled (Formerly known as Rapunzel) (2010) character design by Jin Kim
During the production of Rapunzel, Bastion evolved from a lovable bear into a gypsy [sic] thief. Bastion, in this form, is very much based on the actor Johnny Depp. This is the final version of Rapunzel’s hero until Nathan Greno and Byron Howard took the directorial reigns and morphed this thief into Flynn Rider.
Jin Kim’s concept art for Tangled’s Flynn Rider with a slight Turkish influence
CORRECTION: Kim’s inspiration was Romani
I’ve seen a couple of other artists re-imagine Tangled in India, and thought I’d have a crack at it myself. SO MUCH FUN
CUTE
*SCREAMS*
Y THIS SO CUTE? (tbh I just like the idea of a dark haired rapunzel even though it’s totally incorrect)
Loooove.
A doodle of racebent Rapunzel after @m-azing’s great concept of Tangled in India. The pose, the expression and the framing are all @aamalie’s, though, since I essentially drew over a sketch of hers INTERESTING EXERCISE, because in trying to keep the proportion’s of the undersketch I definitely strayed away from my usual style. I LIKE THE RESULT.
